My spidey senses are tingling, and Spider-Man 3 is going to be epic. News of the upcoming sequel proves that  Jamie Foxx  was telling the truth in October when he suggested in a since-deleted Instagram post that three different Spider-Men could appear in the film. According to Collider if all the right deals close, Tobey Maguire , Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland will all-star in the film. In addition, Alfred Molina, who played Marvel villain Doctor Octopus in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), will be back.

Jon Watts is back to direct the new movie, which Sony has dated for Dec. 17, 2021. It is the sequel to the third Spider-Man movie starring Holland. Maguire starred in the Spider-Man trilogy that started in 2004. Garfield starred in the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. But they aren‘t the only ones coming back. According to Collider, the film is diving into the multi-verse and everyone is coming back. EVERYONE.

For those of us that fell in love with Peter Parker and MJ‘S upside kiss in 2004, it was exciting news to find out Kristen Dunst will reportedly reprise her role as Mary Jane Watson. A deal with Maguire is reportedly in the works. Dunst played MJ in all three of the Maguire Spider-Man movies. Fans of the OG film were also thrilled to find out that Alfred Molina’s oft-rumored return as evil Doctor Octopus is official. Rumors first started swirling after the actor was seen on set.

Per Cinemablend Molina’s Otto Octavius character was presented more sympathetically in the film compared to in the comic books. Octavius became mentally joined with his robotic arms in Spider-Man 2 during a public demonstration with his fusion reactor that ends up killing his wife. The mental fusion gives the arms a life of their own and together they create Doctor Octopus. In the end, Octavius is able to regain control over the arms and sacrifices himself to prevent the nuclear reaction from destroying New York City. Since his character is dead dead, it‘s not clear if Octavius will be resurrected altogether or appear as something other than Doctor Octopus.  Emma Stone  is also reportedly reprising her role as Gwen Stacy, she starred opposite of Garfield. Foxx will also return as Electro, a villain he first played opposite Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 3 will also include some crossovers between the Marvel Cinematic Universe including Benedict Cumberbatch who is making an appearance as Doctor Strange. Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei are also reprising their roles from the first two Holland Spider-Man films.

The film will be directed by John Watts who is returning from both films with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers writing the script.
