Kim Kardashian is opening up about taking a step back from romance before finding herself ready to date again.
The SKIMS founder recently reflected on her love life and revealed that she spent years intentionally focusing on herself, her children and her career before becoming romantically involved with Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton.
Kardashian Says She Was Truly Single For Years
Speaking with the Times’ Style Magazine, Kardashian said she was “really single for five years” following her 2021 split from Kanye West, aside from her short-lived relationship with Pete Davidson.
Rather than rushing into another serious relationship, Kardashian said the time away from dating ended up being exactly what she needed.
© GettyThe reality star, 45, described the period as “great,” explaining that it allowed her to dedicate more time to her four children and the projects that mattered most to her.
“I really felt no rush,” she said. “Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time.”
She Wanted To Focus On Healing
Kardashian explained that she needed time to recover emotionally following her turbulent marriage to West.
The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2022, share four children: North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7.
After the split, Kardashian said she wanted to “completely heal” and spend time working on herself before even considering another relationship.
© Getty“I wasn’t ready to open up,” she admitted. “I really wasn’t even thinking about it.”
The reality star added that she believes things can fall into place naturally when you stop forcing them.
“The universe works in your favour when you just allow it to,” she said.
Kardashian And Hamilton Finally Went Public
Kardashian and Hamilton have known each other since 2014, but their relationship remained largely out of the spotlight for years.
The pair seemingly confirmed their romance in February when they attended the Super Bowl together in Southern California, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots.
Since then, the couple has mostly kept their relationship private, although they've occasionally given fans glimpses of their time together.

The Couple Has Shared More PDA
Hamilton gave fans another peek into their relationship in August when he posted previously unseen photos from a date with Kardashian.
“Resting, restoring, recharging 🔋🔋🔋,” he captioned the intimate snapshots.
Kardashian has also shared a glimpse of their romance, posting a mirror selfie in which she wore a pink Gucci bikini while Hamilton wrapped his arms around her waist.
Despite the occasional social media moment, the pair has largely kept the details of their relationship to themselves.
Pete Davidson Still Has Love For The Kardashian Family
Kardashian's comments about taking time to heal come after her high-profile relationship with Davidson, whom she dated for roughly nine months in 2022.
Despite their breakup, Davidson doesn't appear to have any hard feelings about his time with the Kardashian-Jenner family.
During a recent interview with Variety, the comedian opened up about what it was like dating into one of the world's most famous families.
© Getty“Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you’re not game,” Davidson said.
He also praised Kardashian and her family for being upfront about their unconventional lifestyle.
“One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, ‘This is what we do,’” he said. “I found that very attractive and mature.”
For now, Kardashian appears to be embracing a relationship that arrived after she spent years making sure she was ready for one.
