Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis’ relationship has taken an unexpected turn. Zilis, the Neuralink executive who shares four children with Musk, announced on Friday, Oct. 2, that their romantic relationship had ended. Her account suggests the split happened remarkably quickly, with Zilis saying she went from being in love to being “let go” within a week.
“It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes,” Zilis wrote on X. Zilis shared a screenshot of what she presented as an affectionate text conversation with Musk from shortly before the breakup.

Zilis did not hide the emotional impact of the relationship ending. “I’ve loved him more than life itself,” she wrote, according to Bushttps://www.hola.com/us/celebrities/20260909922606/elon-musks-exes-speak-out-in-new-4-hour-documentary/iness Insider. She also said Musk had taught her “100 lifetimes of knowledge” and brought tremendous meaning into her life.
Zilis wrote extensively about the love she believed she had provided during their relationship and the family they built together. She said she was happy to have shown Musk what it was like to be “deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved,” and described the family as his “safe space.”

“I’m hurting, but care deeply about E,” Zilis added, saying she would continue wishing him happiness.
She ended her statement with a message directly addressing Musk: “God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you.”

One of the biggest revelations was the screenshot Zilis posted of an exchange she said occurred shortly before the relationship ended. According to reporting on the exchange, Zilis told Musk after seeing him for breakfast, “Love you very much.”
Musk replied, “Love you too.”
In the same Sept. 24 exchange, Musk reportedly told Zilis that he had not realized an upcoming dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping included significant others, saying that otherwise he would have invited her.

Musk and Zilis share twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia and son Seldon Lycurgus. Their twins were born in November 2021, but their births did not become public knowledge until 2022. Zilis later announced the arrival of their daughter Arcadia and, in February 2025, revealed that she and Musk had welcomed Seldon.
