Angelina Jolie is pushing back against Brad Pitt's latest attempt to obtain additional financial records as their years-long legal battle over Château Miraval continues.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jolie is opposing a request from Pitt's legal team for records detailing income she received between 2017 and 2019, including money from back-end deals connected to her Hollywood work.

Her attorneys argue that expanding the request further would invade the actress's financial privacy and is not relevant to the central dispute surrounding her 2021 sale of her stake in the French estate.
Pitt's attorneys see it differently. His team has argued that Jolie's finances during the years following their 2016 separation are relevant because of statements she has made about seeking financial independence and the circumstances that ultimately led to her decision to sell her interest in Miraval.

In her latest response, Jolie maintains that previous references to economic coercion related specifically to the dispute over Miraval rather than suggesting she did not otherwise have access to money.
© GC ImagesThe actress also says she deliberately scaled back her career during the period in question to focus on caring for her children. Her position is that income she may have continued receiving from previous back-end agreements would not change the fact that she was taking on less work at the time.
Her legal team has similarly argued that Jolie's desire for "financial independence" was about separating her life and finances from Pitt, rather than an assertion that she was in immediate financial distress.
© DeFodi ImagesThe disagreement over the records has been brewing for months. During a July discovery conference, one of Jolie's attorneys characterized Pitt's financial request as an "overreach" and alleged it represented further controlling behavior by the actor.
Pitt's attorneys, meanwhile, have maintained that the information is necessary to give a jury a complete picture of Jolie's financial circumstances before the Miraval sale.
The battle over Château Miraval:
Pitt and Jolie acquired Château Miraval in 2008 through their respective companies. Their ownership interests were later adjusted so that each effectively held 50 percent. The sprawling estate in the south of France also served as the setting for their 2014 wedding.

In September 2021, she sold Nouvel, the company through which she held her interest in Miraval, to Tenute del Mondo. Court records state the agreement valued the transaction at $64 million, payable in installments.
Pitt sued in 2022, alleging that Jolie violated an agreement between them that neither would sell their interest without the other's consent. Jolie has disputed that she needed his approval. Her side has also alleged that negotiations for Pitt to purchase her stake collapsed in connection with a proposed nondisclosure agreement.

In June 2026, a California appeals court ruled that businessman Yuri Shefler, whose company ultimately acquired Jolie's interest, could be subject to jurisdiction in California. The court pointed to his involvement in structuring and finalizing the transaction, including his guarantee of $39 million of the purchase price.
