The Quintanilla family dispute is becoming increasingly public. One day after A.B. Quintanilla III confirmed that a legal matter involves his sister Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga and circumstances connected to their late father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., Selena Quintanilla’s mother, Marcella Quintanilla, and sister Suzette issued a forceful joint statement challenging his account.
The statement, shared on the verified Selena Instagram account on September 2, directly disputes several assertions made by A.B. and raises a central question: Where is the lawsuit he says exists?
© GC Images“We have seen A.B.’s recent public statement,” Marcella and Suzette begin. “Because it contains serious and false insinuations concerning Suzette, Abraham, and our family, we feel it is necessary to correct the record.”
What A.B. Quintanilla said about his sister Suzette
A.B., Selena’s older brother and a key songwriter and producer behind her music, publicly addressed the dispute on September 1 after reports about a possible lawsuit began circulating. “Yes, there is a lawsuit related to Suzette Arriaga, as well as facts and circumstances related to my father, Abraham Quintanilla,” A.B. wrote in his statement.
He said the legal process began “several months ago,” but claimed the circumstances behind his decision stretched back years.
A.B. also said he had discovered information during the process that left him “deeply impacted.” He stopped short of publicly identifying specific alleged misconduct or releasing supporting documents, saying he would tell his complete version when the time was appropriate.

Now Marcella and Suzette are pushing back.

According to the statement provided and posted through Selena’s official Instagram account, Marcella had previously avoided publicly discussing private family matters.
That changed after A.B.’s allegations. “A.B. states that there is a lawsuit involving Suzette and that a legal process began several months ago,” their statement reads.
Marcella and Suzette then make a significant assertion: “Suzette has never been served with any lawsuit.” They say Suzette has received “no court-filed complaint, summons, petition, or other legal pleading concerning the allegations A.B. is describing.”

Where was it filed? What is the case number?” the statement says.
Suzette Quintanilla denies theft allegations
Marcella and Suzette also responded to what they characterize as insinuations of financial wrongdoing. “Those insinuations are false,” they state. “There was no theft by Suzette,” the statement continues. “Suzette has not stolen, misappropriated, or improperly taken money or property belonging to A.B., Abraham, Marcella, Chris, Selena’s estate, or any family-owned or jointly owned business.”

The response also addresses comments involving Abraham Quintanilla Jr., who died in December 2025. A.B.’s statement had referred to circumstances involving his father without publicly detailing what those circumstances were. Abraham was Selena’s father and longtime manager and remained closely associated with her career and legacy for decades.
Marcella and Suzette say they are “unaware of any wrongdoing by Abraham” that would support what they believe A.B. has suggested. “If he is alleging wrongdoing by Abraham, he should clearly state what he is alleging rather than leaving the public to speculate about a man who is no longer here to respond for himself,” their statement says.
Is Suzette selling Selena Quintanilla’s belongings?
Another major portion of the statement addresses claims or speculation surrounding the possible sale of interests connected to Selena’s legacy.
Marcella and Suzette make a specific distinction between Selena’s personal belongings and a potential ownership transaction involving a company. “Suzette is not selling, and has no intention of selling, Selena’s personal belongings,” they state.

Selena Quintanilla’s family drama turns deeply personal
Despite the sharp language, Marcella and Suzette insist their statement is not intended as an attack on A.B. “We have no interest in attacking A.B., humiliating him, or litigating decades of family history through social media,” they write.
They also acknowledge that the conflict is unfolding between people who remain family. “We love A.B. He is our son and brother,” the statement says. “But loving someone does not require us to accept false accusations or remain silent while the reputations of Suzette, Abraham, and our family are called into question.”
