Ben Affleck rings in his 54th Birthday with Jennifer Garner and their kids Fin and Samuel

Ben Affleck is celebrating his 54th birthday with the people closest to him. On the date of his birthday, Saturday, August 15th, Affleck was photographed alongside his kids Fin and Samuel. They were all joined by Jennifer Garner at a market in Santa Monica.

In photos shared this week, Affleck was photographed laughing alongside his kids. For the Santa Monica outing, Affleck wore a white button-up shirt with black stripes on it, which he paired with blue trousers and a belt. He completed the look with some sunglasses. 

His kids wore complementary looks: Fin opted for denim shorts, a black T-shirt, a crossbody bag, and a green cap. In the case of Sam, he wore navy shorts and a grey T-shirt.

While Garner wasn't photographed alongside the family, she was spotted that same day at that location. 

Paparazzi captured her walking alongside a friend, with the two of them wearing workout clothes. In the case of Garner, she paired green tights with a black sweater, sunglasses, and a light blue cap. She completed the look with crew socks and green clogs. 

Affleck's emotional year

It's been an emotional year for Ben Affleck. In July of this year, it was revealed that his mother, Chris Affleck, had died after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. As reported by different outlets, Affleck and his brother Casey were impacted by the death of their mother and had been turning to their family and friends for support. 

"The family is leaning on one another, and they’ll get through it together," said a source to PEOPLE. As reported by US Weekly, Chris' immediate cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest. The death certificate confirmed that she died at Affleck's home.

According to her obituary, Chris died after achieving an important milestone. “Her greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school,” reads the obituary. “She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. She died peacefully, in her sleep, two days later.”
