U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife, the Second Lady, Usha Vance, have welcomed their fourth baby. Little Alec Neel Vance is the newest addition to the family, joining his siblings Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel, who joyfully celebrated the arrival of their new playmate.

The announcement, made by the vice president himself, was accompanied by words of gratitude for the doctors and staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit, who made sure everything went as smoothly as possible so the family could now celebrate the blessing of having another baby at home.

Vance shared the good news on his social media accounts. On Sunday, he wrote, “We’re pleased to announce that our son, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning.” The VP seemed overjoyed at the arrival of the newest member of his household. As for the health of the mom and newborn, he added, “Usha and the baby are healthy and happy, and our kids are thrilled to meet their baby brother.”

The birth was not only an intimate family moment, it also became a symbol of hope and continuity in the midst of the Vance family’s public life, who just a month ago were celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary. Their followers are hoping to soon see a photo of the entire family, now a party of six.

A historic moment

While joy fills this family’s hearts, little Alec and his mom have already become part of U.S. history. For the first time in 150 years, a Second Lady has given birth while her husband is serving as vice president.

With baby Alec's arrival, this new chapter revealed that the Vance family is looking for a new place where they can spend more time together, away from the fast pace of Washington and the demands of political life.
