Olivia Rodrigo is shedding light on one of the more unexpected realities of life on tour.
During a recent interview with KISS FM UK while promoting her new album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,' the Grammy-winning singer made a surprising confession about some of her most dedicated fans.
According to Rodrigo, certain concertgoers have gone to extreme lengths to secure and maintain coveted front-row spots at concerts and festivals, including wearing adult diapers to avoid leaving the barricade.
"I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show," Rodrigo said. "And that's been an experience as a performer that I have smelled."
The 23-year-old singer admitted that the phenomenon is something she thinks about often, comparing the level of dedication to the crowds that gather for the annual New Year's Eve celebration in New York City's Times Square.
While the revelation shocked many listeners, it wasn't the first time Rodrigo had encountered the trend firsthand.
During her headlining performance at BST Hyde Park Festival, the singer spotted a fan holding a sign that read, "Wearing diapers for the front row." At the time, Rodrigo appeared amused by the fan's commitment and praised their dedication from the stage.
Now, fans know there may have been another reason the moment stood out to her. The comments quickly sparked debate across social media, with music fans divided over whether the practice represents admirable commitment or takes concert culture too far.
Supporters argue that fans often spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of dollars on premium floor tickets and may queue for hours to secure the best possible view. For some, leaving their spot even briefly could mean losing a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience.
Critics, however, point out that standing in soiled clothing can create an unpleasant environment for fellow attendees and performers alike.
Rodrigo is far from the first artist connected to the conversation. Similar discussions gained traction online during Taylor Swift's blockbuster 'Eras Tour,' when videos and fan stories about concertgoers wearing diapers went viral across social media.
Despite the unusual topic, Rodrigo remains focused on a major new chapter in her career.
The singer is currently celebrating the release of her third studio album, which has already received widespread critical acclaim. During the same interview, she also revealed that she is approximately 60 percent deaf in her left ear, jokingly advising fans to whisper secrets into her right side instead.
Rodrigo is set to embark on The Unraveled Tour, which will take her across North America and Europe beginning in September 2026 and continuing through May 2027.
The candid admission may have surprised fans, but it also offered an unusual glimpse into the realities performers experience from the stage, including some they can literally smell.
