Nicole Richie and her daughter, Harlow Kate Madden, decided to step in front of the cameras and deliver a rare photo-op moment, and it’s clear the 18-year-old is channeling both of her parents' energy.
© GettyOn Monday, the mother-daughter duo stepped out together at the Stop! That! Train! premiere in Los Angeles, with Harlow, who actually goes by her middle name, Kate, looking every bit like her famous mom’s mini-me. But the outfit seemed to be channeling her dad’s pop-rock days.

© GettyLongtime fans remember when Nicole and Joel Madden first introduced baby Harlow to the world back in 2008. At the time, the couple sounded completely overwhelmed but obsessed with new parenthood.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Nicole described feeling like a “superhero” after giving birth, while Joel joked that leaving the house with a newborn took “an hour” because every five minutes, Harlow suddenly needed to eat or be changed.
© GettyWhen it came to her name, Nicole admitted she wanted a “hippie name,” while Joel pushed for something more classic, eventually landing on Harlow Kate. “I always liked the name Kate,” Nicole shared at the time, though she never imagined it as a first name.
But Katie has made it clear which name she prefers. When Nicole wished her a happy 18th birthday, fans noticed her handle went by Katie and started leaving comments sounding off about it.
The Simple Life star was asked about it with PEOPLE, confirming she goes by her middle name. “She has her whole life," she said.
At 18, their daughter has fully grown into the cool-girl aesthetic Nicole was fully leading in the 2000s, and according to Nicole, the fashion influence now goes both ways. The House of Harlow founder previously admitted that Kate teaches her “everything” about makeup and hair, joking that after years in glam chairs, she’s still bad at doing her own makeup.
The pair also reportedly shares clothes regularly, something Nicole says reminds her of her own relationship with mom, Brenda Harvey-Richie, and dad, Lionel Richie.
They welcomed their youngest, Sparrow, in 2009, and he will be celebrating his 17th birthday this year on September 9th.
