For Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, parenting has always come with a healthy dose of chaos, roasting, and brutally honest family moments. Their funny stories are part of the reason they’ve been such incredible hosts on Live with Kelly and Mark. From their life in the bedroom to their kids leaving the nest, they’ve always been candid.

This week, the Instagram account for the talk show shared a behind-the-scenes clip of Ripa talking to some of their devoted audience members. During one of the conversations, she hilariously recalled the first time she left Consuelos alone with their kids when they were little.

Ripa and Mark share three kids: Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 23. She had to go out of town and left Consuelos on dad duty with all three of them, but he wasn’t alone; she hired babysitters to work in 8-hour shifts. “We were shooting this show in Chicago. Joaquin was like 6 months old. I hired babysitters to work in 8-hour shifts, like nurses,” Ripa shared.

But when she returned home two days later, one babysitter gave her a warning she clearly never forgot: “You can’t die, because he doesn’t know where anything is.” Ripa quipped back, “Good note. My god, I can’t die!”

After nearly three decades together, the longtime couple has basically built a second career out of teasing each other publicly, whether it’s on their morning show, in interviews, or across social media.

Consuelos is usually the calmer one, while Ripa happily exposes every relatable family disaster possible, especially the ones involving her husband.

Now, with the kids all grown up, they’ve all remained close. Lola recently celebrated her dad’s birthday with an emotional tribute, calling him her “superhero” and “the coolest Mexican, Italian man to walk this earth.”

Ripa, meanwhile, took the opportunity to lovingly roast her husband for his obsession with “cake and party hats.”

The family also enjoyed a recent trip to Tuscany for a relative’s wedding. While sharing photos on Live, Ripa joked that Consuelos deserved “Uncle of the Year” after flying to Italy for less than 24 hours in between performances of his Broadway play.

She praised him for spending more hours on the plane than on the actual wedding. “I just missed a couple of shows, but I was back on stage Saturday night, which was great,” he shared.  One of the photos shows Mark and his brother, Mike, with their sons, Michael and Alec. It once again proved that Mark and Michael look just like twins.

Joaquin was not pictured, but he is currently acting in Death of a Salesman on Broadway, so he may not have been able to miss this, i.e., his dad.
