Madonna was one of the biggest surprises at Coachella this weekend. The pop icon was brought out as one of the guests at Sabrina Carpenter's headlining show, with the two performing some of her biggest hits together. Madonna also performed a new song, which will be a part of her highly anticipated album, "Confessions on a Dance Floor Part 2."
Sabrina Carpenter was Friday's Coachella headliner. While the majority of her show was identical to her performance on the first weekend of Coachella, she brought out Madonna, with the two strutting out across the stage in matching bodysuits.
Madonna came onstage after Carpenter sampled "Vogue's" memorable introduction while performing "Juno." The two then performed "Like a Prayer" and what appears to be one of Madonna's new songs from her upcoming record.
“So, 20 years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ part one in America," Madonna told the crowds. "It was such a thrill, and it’s a thrill to be back. It’s a full circle moment, you know? [It's] very meaningful for me.”
The moment marked Madonna's comeback to Coachella, which she headlined in 2006. She was also featured on Drake's headlining set in 2015.
Madonna shared numerous photos of the performance and of herself and Carpenter, writing a sweet message. "Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella! Thank you to Sabrina and everyone who made it possible To Bring Confessions II back to where it began -it was such a thrill! A moment in history, I will never forget! I FEEL SO FREE."
More details about Madonna's new album
Last week, Madonna announced that she would be releasing a sequel to her 2005 album "Confessions on a Dance Floor," which became a commercial and critical success. In an Instagram post, Madonna shared a photo of herself wearing a pink veil, and sitting atop of what appear to be speakers.
"Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II — July 3 2026," she wrote.
She also teased a snippet of one of her songs. "C’mon meet me on the dance floor," reads the caption.
