Sandra Bullock has officially stepped into the social media spotlight, and her fans are extremely excited to have her on board. On Tuesday, April 14, the Oscar-winning actress launched her Instagram account, over a year after scammers impersonated her.

Her social media presence was so necessary for her legion of fans that in less than 24 hours, Bullock gained 4.3 million followers, despite her keeping things minimal so far by posting just a single video that already has fans dissecting every detail.

A Mysterious First Post

Bullock’s first Instagram post seems to be a strategic move. The star shared a short, slightly eerie clip of herself pointing at a blender, when suddenly it switched on as if by magic. She captioned it simply: “Midnight somewhere…”

That subtle tease is most likely to be connected to her upcoming film, Practical Magic 2, where she reprises her role as Sally Owens. The original film, which premiered in 1998, also starred Nicole Kidman. The second part is expected to premiere on September 18.

But Bullock didn’t stop at posting; she also dove into the comment sections, sharing a witty, playful side. Sandra jokingly called out her The Lost City co-star Channing Tatum for his laundry habits. “Of course you did, @channingtatum,” she wrote, adding a wink emoji.

In addition, her good friend Jennifer Aniston welcomed her to the platform by writing on Instagram Stories that “someone we really all love very much just joined Instagram.”

Her Past Warnings About Social Media

Bullock’s arrival on Instagram comes 14 months after she shared her past stance on social media platforms. In 2025, Sandra publicly warned fans about fake accounts impersonating her online.

“Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me… are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me,” she said, also emphasizing safety concerns, stating, “My family's safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern.”

Her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, also spoke out, revealing how deep the issue was. “I spend multiple times a day reporting fakes,” she shared, adding that some victims had even sent “THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS” to scammers posing as Bullock.
