The Academy Awards were on Sunday, and the biggest names in the industry gathered at the Dolby Theater for Hollywood's biggest night. They strutted their looks down the magenta carpet before making their way inside, posing for the cameras. Among the stars in attendance was the one and only Leonardo DiCaprio, who was nominated for Best Actor for "One Battle After Another."

The 51-year-old showed up with noticeably darker hair and a thick, retro mustache that immediately sent social media into a frenzy. Within minutes, the comparisons started rolling. Some compared him to a cop and called it a "porn stache," while others quipped that he stole Pedro Pascal's, as the Eddington star arrived clean-shaven.

“Leonardo DiCaprio stole Pedro Pascal’s mustache,” one viewer joked on X, formerly known as Twitter. Another added, “Pedro Pascal gave his mustache to Leonardo DiCaprio.”

The darker hair was just as noticeable. His familiar sandy tone was replaced with a deeper shade that, paired with the mustache, gave midlife European arthouse energy. He had some haters, but overall, people dug the new look.

The transformation appears to be for his next project with longtime collaborator Martin Scorsese. DiCaprio recently shared a first-look image from What Happens at Night, also starring Jennifer Lawrence

The snowy still shows the two walking through a European town with the mustache fully intact. The film, set to stream on Apple TV+, follows a married American couple visiting a remote European town to adopt a child, only for reality to begin unraveling around them.

Pascal's clean-shaven look also divided the internet. It's unclear why he switched it up, but it's likely for a role, because he's made it clear in the past that he hates how he looks without facial hair. He told LADbible that in 2025, he was "appalled" by the clean look in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).

“I grow such s--- facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off… I really look very… strongly disagree with a clean-shaven me," he told Vanessa Kirby. “I was so appalled by the way I looked,” the Fantastic Four actor shared. “I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back unless it were completely necessary."

So while the internet debates whether Pascal needs to file a facial hair report, they both may be deep in character mode.
