Sophie Turner is jumping into one of the biggest roles of her career. The British actress is taking on the mantle of Lara Croft, one of pop culture's biggest icons, memorably brought to life in the early aughts by Angelina Jolie

Turner had already shown her hairstyle transformation and an early look at her version of Lara, but new set photos show the official first taste of her action heroine. Wearing tactical-style clothing made up of a vest, a long-sleeved shirt, cargo pants, and boots, Turner looked strong and muscular, and a perfect interpretation of Croft. She also had two gun holsters strapped to her thighs, a clear call back to the video game character.

The photos were captured in Surrey, England, and showed Turner and the series' crew shooting in a wooded location. Turner was seen wielding a handgun and other props as she performed various realistic-looking stunts.

Turner's Tomb Raider series is one of the most highly anticipated shows in development. Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her work in "Fleabag" and "Killing Eve," the series is keeping plot details under wraps but has shared some of its cast, which includes Jason Isaacs, Sigourney Weaver, and more.

Turner has been showing off her impressive prep for Tomb Raider

Earlier this year, Turner was a guest at "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," where she revealed that she'd been training since February of last year for the part. "I feel like I could probably beat you up right now," she said to Jimmy.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Turner made it clear that her version of Croft is more about her story beyond her sex appeal. “It’s about her and her story and what drives her, rather than what so many people also love about her, which is how hot she is in the games and the movies," she said.

"But I really want to show the other side. She’s so unashamedly capable. She is not a woman who hides her strengths at all."
