At 62, John Stamos is stepping into a bold new chapter and marking it permanently. The beloved "Full House" alum just revealed his very first tattoo, and the story behind it goes far beyond ink.

On Tuesday, March 17, Stamos shared a behind-the-scenes video of the moment he got tattooed for the first time. The piece, inked by artist Oscar Jordan Urbina, sits on his upper arm and carries a deeply personal meaning.

The design is inspired by Appeal to the Great Spirit, a striking early-1900s sculpture by Cyrus Dallin. The artwork depicts a Native American man on horseback reaching toward a higher power.

The Beach Boys Connection Fans Will Love

For Stamos, the tattoo is about music history and personal identity. The image also famously inspired the logo of The Beach Boys’ record label, Brother Records, launched in 1966.

That connection runs deep. Stamos has long been associated with the band, performing with them over the years and embracing their creative legacy.

He explained that the symbol represents “artistic freedom and trust in a higher creative path.”

So why get inked now?

Stamos says he’s feeling a strong pull toward growth and reinvention. He described entering a new phase where he’s taking bigger creative risks and following opportunities that feel authentic rather than expected.

"Lately I’ve felt that same pull in my own life," explained the actor. "Stepping into this new chapter of my career, taking bigger swings, following the work wherever it leads. The timing felt right, so I put that Great Spirit on my arm as a reminder to stay brave, stay open, and trust the direction the art is taking me."

The Tattoo That Fooled Everyone Before This

If you feel like you’ve seen Stamos with tattoos before, you’re not imagining things.

Back in 2019, he went viral during a prank war with Nick Jonas. Stamos tricked fans—and Jonas himself—into believing he had gotten a massive tattoo of the singer’s face.

It was all fake, of course. But the internet loved it, and the moment became one of the most memorable celebrity pranks in recent years.
