Michael Douglas is opening up. The 81-year-old actor is working on a memoir that will explore his life as one of the most notorious figures in Hollywood, his family of acting legends, and his long-term partnership with actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
© Getty ImagesIn a video shared on his social media, Douglas revealed that he's been working on a memoir alongside a writer for the past six months, and that the book will be released on October 6th.
"There's a lot to tell, before I forget," he said with a smile. "But I'm remembering a lot. I hope everybody will enjoy it, and I hope it'll give you a little insight into what I've been doing for the past 80 plus years."
Douglas accompanied the video with a caption. "I’m writing a book, with the great help of Mike Fleming Jr," reads the post. "The process has brought back so many memories."

Douglas' notorious life and career
Over the years, Michael Douglas has led a notorious life, known for his work in cinema and his strong partnership with Catherine Zeta-Jones. While he was one of the most famous faces during the '80s and '90s, being involved in a very notorious relationship, he still led a private life.
In his career, Douglas has been involved with dozens of beloved films, pioneers of numerous genres, among them, "Wall Street," "Fatal Attraction," and "Basic Instinct." He's also acting royalty, being the son of Kirk Douglas, one of the biggest Hollywood icons of the '40s and '50s.
In a separate statement, Douglas made it clear that he'd been asked to share his story for decades. “After being asked for many years, I’ve finally decided it’s time to tell my story on my own terms,” he said.
