In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Clooney revealed that his dynamic with Amal is one that's been influenced by his age and experience.

"As someone who has been married nearly 30 years, I find that hard to believe," said the interviewer. Clooney's answer was one that he's been influencing much of his life at this point. After the interviewer revealed that he got married when he was 32, Clooney said that he married Amal when he was 52.

"There's a reason why insurance rates when you're 16 to 25 are off the charts," said Clooney. "I had no intention of getting married again, but I fell madly in love with the person who changed that. We have kids. I didn't want to have kids. Everything changed because I met this incredible person."

The Clooneys rely on compromise

In his interview, Clooney revealed that both he and Amal have made compromises for the other, knowing that these changes are usually for their own benefit.

He shared a story of a motorcycle accident he had, and how it was a miracle he survived it. Amal told him the accident was maybe a sign for him to stop riding motorcycles; he agreed. "I said, 'OK. Fair enough.' By the way, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss it," he said.

Clooney revealed that Amal had made similar sacrifices. "You know, my wife used to smoke, and I said, 'I think it’s time you quit.' And I’m sure there isn’t a day that goes by that she doesn’t miss smoking a cigarette. But I’m really glad she stopped."

Clooney and Amal have been married since 2014, and have welcomed two kids throughout their partnership, twins Ella and Alexander.

While Clooney tends to speak more about his relationship with his wife, Amal has also shared her perspective with the world, sharing some sweet details of their partnership and of Clooney's role as a husband. "I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspirational and supportive, and we have a home filled with love and laughter," she said in an interview with Time.

"It is a joy beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I feel so lucky to have found a great love in my life, and to be a mother — this is how I get my balance."
