Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's divorce details are coming to light. According to new sources, Kidman and Urban's divorce ran into one snag: the custody of their daughters Sunday and Faith.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, Urban was initially looking to have equal time with his daughters. “The one thing that became a sticking point was custody of Sunday and Faith,” they said. “Keith was initially asking for equal time with their daughters.”
“It was an especially stressful time for Nic,” continued the source.
“After almost 20 years of marriage, she certainly knows how stubborn Keith can be. She was anxious and distressed that he wasn’t going to budge.”
Ultimately, the custody agreement states that Kidman will have primary custody. In detail, it says that Faith and Sunday with be with their mom for 306 days of the year, while Urban will have the girls every other weekend from Saturday morning to Sunday night, for 59 days of the year.
The source claims that Kidman's desire to have full custody of her daughters was impacted by her past divorce. "She wasn’t given that benefit when she divorced Tom Cruise,” they said. The couple shared two adopted kids: Connor and Bella. While the kids are sometimes seen with their father, they have rarely been seen with their mother.
Urban has a complicated schedule due to his work
The Daily Mail spoke to a separate source who explained why Urban had the kids only for the weekend. “Keith has a bunch of tour dates coming up, and his schedule is a little less flexible than Nicole’s,” they said.
The source argued that Kidman has a more manageable schedule and that she spends most of her time at home when she isn't working on a film or a TV show. “She enjoys being a homebody when she isn’t on set. And if need be, her kids can be on set with her on a more consistent basis. That is a much better atmosphere than backstage at a concert.”
Kidman and Urban's divorce came as a big surprise for the entertainment world, with the two having built a partnership over the past 20 years. They shared the news of their split in September, with Kidman filing for divorce. According to PEOPLE, over the past year, Kidman has found support in her sister, Antonia, and her family.
