Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are one of the cutest couples in Hollywood and have dedicated and supportive parents. A few days ago, they pulled off the ultimate parent move, secretly flying to London to surprise their only daughter, Lola, during her very first live performance.
Our sister brand, HELLO! shared footage of the special moment. Lola looked like a rockstar on stage when she realized they were in the building, saying into the microphone, "shut up." "If anyone's confused," she said, holding back tears, "my parents just flew in to surprise me." After her set, they all held each other with emotional hugs, cherishing the moment.
The couple shared the story on Live with Kelly and Mark, revealing that they went against their daughter's request for them not to go. "She was so nervous leading up to this thing. And we wanted to go, but we didn’t want to add any more pressure by us being there," Mark said. "She told us not to go, specifically," Ripa added.
Committed to watching her in action, Mark said they planned to sneak into London and hide somewhere on the side of the crowd. They even tried to be in disguise. “The first part of the caper is we went and bought hats, like Peaky Blinders style," he explained.
But the plan didn’t exactly unfold as expected. The venue entrance turned out to be right next to the stage, forcing the two to hang back and improvise. “So we had to stay around the corner, and Kelly was filming it, and I was crouched down underneath her arm, because I wanted to see it,” Mark shared. “I wanted to see her live, not just watch her on a video screen. And she was wonderful.”
Kelly was just as impressed, “She was incredible. So, so proud of her. So impressed. She was so funny. She was really funny,” she said.
The performance came just days after Lola released her debut EP, Sorry, it’s all about me, a five-song project that followed her 2024 debut single, “Paranoia Silverlining.”
The famous couple also shares sons Michael and Joaquin. What’s interesting is that Lola’s voice has seemingly come out of nowhere. Ripa explained in a 2022 interview that she and Mark have no musical talent.
“She definitely is interested in you know, well I guess showbiz is the record industry, but it’s like, we have no musical talent between the three of us,” Ripa told Access Hollywood, including her older brother Michael in the mix. “But she definitely has all the talent for all of us. So yeah, I think that’s in her future.”
