Two years after Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced their divorce, the actor has officially gone Instagram official with his girlfriend, Sutton Foster. The actor gave her a sweet shout-out in honor of her latest Café Carlyle performance.
On Wednesday, the 57-year-old shared a photo and a video of Foster onstage in a floor-length sequined green gown, singing with a full band. “@suttonlenore performing during the holidays at @cafecarlyle … now that’s an iconic NYC night! And, truly magical,” he captioned the post.
In the clip, Foster spots him in the crowd, waves, and immediately breaks into laughter. It's a sweet shoutout, but the comments are a reminder that people have not gotten over the rumored cheating scandal. "Reminiscent of the praise you always heaped on Deb," reads the top-liked comment.
It wasn't the only one. "That's embarrassing, Hugh! We used to think you were cool. What a disappointment," "TOO SOON. You made promises to Deb, and we all believed you. We all thought, finally, in Hollywood, here is a man who is honoring the commitments he made. Right up until a younger woman comes along, eh, Hugh? This was only the second blow to your image, though. The first is being so tightly connected to Ryan and Blake. They are so entitled. But maybe that’s what happened. The company you keep changes you. Disappointing," added others, with one calling him "homewrecking Hugh."
They weren't all negative; some complimented her dress, while others called for them to perform together, calling them "couple goals."
Unraveling the drama
The pair first worked together in Broadway’s The Music Man back in 2021, long before either of them officially ended their marriages. Jackman was still with Furness at the time, and Foster was married to Ted Griffin.
Fast-forward to 2023, when Jackman and Furness announced their split after 27 years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized this June. Foster filed for divorce in October 2024, and one month later, Us Weekly confirmed that she and Jackman were officially dating.
Behind the scenes, though, Broadway insiders were already whispering. “Sutton and Hugh’s relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced,” a source close to Foster told Us Weekly. “A lot of people on Broadway knew… But there was an affair and overlap.”
And the drama didn’t stop there. In late 2024, Furness “liked” a private Instagram post discussing the alleged affair, and fans noticed. Gossip blogger Tasha Lustig claimed Jackman “blindsided” Furness with Sutton, saying he was “up to no good” and “supposedly obsessed with Sutton,” adding that rumors between the two first sparked back in 2021.
Despite some of the hate and her not-so-cryptic "like," Jackman and Furness publicly framed their separation as a gentle shift after nearly three decades together. “Our journey is now changing, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” they said in their joint statement.
The former couple shares two kids: Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20, while Sutton and her ex share daughter Emily, 8.
