Matthew McConaughey is sharing some intimate details. The actor and writer often shares his thoughts and musings on his newsletter, with a recent entry revealing a memorable dream he had, which took place shortly before meeting his future wife, Camila Alves.
McConaughey shared that the dream took place in his mid-30s, while he was on the hunt for love and a partner. “In my mid-30s, I was looking for a lifetime lover, a best friend, and a mother-to-be. I was looking for more, I was looking for the one, I was looking for her," he wrote in his newsletter, titled, “Lyrics of Living."
“Then I had a wet dream.”
McConaughey shared that, in his dream, he was celebrating his 88th birthday party. He had 22 wives and 88 children.“Each mother and I shared an idyllic memory, the children roosted upon my lap," he wrote. "We hugged, we kissed, we laughed and joked, we cried tears of happiness. They all gathered around me on the porch for a family photograph, and we looked toward a large-format box camera on a tripod at the top of the driveway. Three! Two! One! Then I came.”
He shared that the dream represented a message that he needed at that time, one that told him to stop searching to let go, realizing that some things take some time to figure themselves out. "It was a spiritual sign, a message to surrender, to quit trying so intentionally to find the perfect woman for me, and, rather, concede to the natural selection process of finding her, her finding me, or not,” he continued. “So I quit looking for her.”
"Three months later, I met Camila."
More details about McConaughey and Alves' relationship
McConaughey has opened up in the past about his love and family life, sharing that he was nearing his 40's when he met his partner.
“I mean, the clock was ticking—I was about to be 40 and my plan was to be married and have kids by that age,” he said to the magazine Cigar Aficionado. “But I didn’t want to play the game of starting to feel anxious because, with too much anxiety, you can’t find a mate. And then you make a hasty decision."
He and Alves met at a nightclub in 2006, with the two confirming their relationship the following year. The pair have since welcomed three children: Levi, Vida, and Livingston.
