Mexico and Uruguay were going toe to toe on November 15 for a friendly match at the Estadio Corona in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, but it was a fan who stole the show. At one point during the match, the camera panned, projecting her onto the Jumbotron and on the screens of thousands watching at home, who were captivated.
Happily cheering for Mexico with her long, straight brunette hair and her cheeks painted, she blew a kiss when she noticed she was on the screen, and flashed a smile that had people saying, "Princess of Genovia, is that you?" Now dubbed the "Mexican Anne Hathaway," clips and photos of her went viral, with the internet desperate to find out who she is. "I knew anne hathaway was secretly mexican," one person quipped on Instagram.
The internet did its thing, and it turns out Anne Hathaway does not have a secret life in Mexico. The lady making everyone double-check their TVs is Estefany Cabco, a Mexican doctor and fútbol fan. Part of her charm is that she wasn’t just sitting there posing for the camera; you can tell she's a devoted fan. She was on her feet with a face clearly invested in the game at play.
Who is Estefany Cabco?
Cabco has 285k followers on Instagram and, according to her bio, she is a medical doctor and internal medicine specialist who’s also a selfie addict and animal lover, repping Torreón and Saltillo.
The doctor shared a gallery of photos from the game that got over 85k likes. In the comments were hundreds of her new fans. "Saw you on TikTok, beautiful!! You are such a beautiful angel," and "The best we've seen from the Mexican national team," were among some of the kind words. One user even suggested that she should be the one representing Mexico in the Miss Universe competition this Thursday.
It's not the first time she's gone viral. " HAHAHAHAHA, there's no match that you don't go viral, Fany," one person wrote. Back in August, she had a viral moment watching Santos Laguna. She had the same focused face as she rocked one of the jerseys with her hair and makeup looking flawless. She shared the image on her Instagram, confirming in the caption, "Needless to say, it's me."
