Adam Sandler is reflecting on the strong bond he shares with his wife, Jackie, more than two decades into their marriage.
The 59-year-old actor spoke with People at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film, Jay Kelly, held at the Egyptian Theatre on Nov. 11. During the chat, Adam opened up about how much he genuinely enjoys spending time with his wife of 22 years.
“We're very close. We like to talk, like to laugh, like to have fun, and like to think about things and take care of our kids,” he says, noting that their connection remains as solid as ever.
Adam also expressed how deeply appreciative he feels about both his family life and his career at this stage.
“I'm just more thankful than I've ever been. Happy I got to do this life, happy all the people who've been with me during all this stuff, and helped me out, and [it's] just been a phenomenal time. My whole family's always been great to me. My wife and I talk about stuff, and what to do, and what to do next, and it's just been a very cool life,” he shares.
Adam and Jackie first crossed paths on the set of Big Daddy back in 1999, where Jackie appeared in a small role as a waitress. Their relationship quickly blossomed, and the actor has never shied away from honoring meaningful moments in their love story.
To commemorate the anniversary of their first meeting, Adam shared a heartfelt Instagram post in 2020, writing, "22 years ago today we locked eyes and fell deep. Looking forward to the next 22, young lady. Love you my forever girl."
The two married in June 2003 in Malibu, California. They later welcomed daughters Sadie in 2006 and Sunny in 2008.
Last year, the couple marked their 20th wedding anniversary, and Adam celebrated the milestone with a touching tribute on Instagram. Alongside a vintage wedding photo, he wrote, "Happy 20th my sweet Jackie! Your 'I do' was the best gift of my life. My heart has been yours since the first second I saw you and I love and appreciate your devoted soul more and more each day."
