Kylie Jenner is known for her makeup empire, but she surprised fans when she dropped her new single "Fourth Strike " in October in celebration of her old "King Kylie" moniker featuring Terror Jr. The 28-year-old recently had her first live performance of the track at Kendall Jenner’s 30th birthday celebration.
The performance was captured in BFF Anastasia Karanikolaou’s YouTube vlog, giving fans a glimpse into the tropical celebration that reportedly took place at a $125,000-a-week luxury villa on Mustique, per DailyMail. There were a lot of tequila shots, and they looked like they were on a sick one.
They took over the island with friends like Hailey and Justin Bieber, and on their fourth night, they started playing Kylie's song and handed her a mic.
Kylie went in and out of singing along to the backtrack while wearing a black cut-out dress. The chorus - “Turn you on like a light / Then you miss me like a flight” - had Hailey and the rest of the crew happily jumping around, singing along.
"I have the voice of an angel"
After dropping the single last month, Kylie opened up about finally pursuing her lifelong dream of making music. “You know this is my dream,” she said in a recent Q&A on YouTube, “I’ve been talking about this since I came out of the womb… I just never had the confidence."
She said turning 28 made her take the plunge. "I’m gonna be 30 soon, and I just don’t want to look back on life and have any regrets, and this is something I’ve always wanted to try," she said, before noting, "I don’t think I’m like Adele or anything."
Kylie said she needed a little liquid courage while in the studio. "I always wanted to try to see if I could do it. At the first recording session, I was really nervous. I had, like, three margaritas — or vodka sodas, actually," she explained.
After recording the track first in an RV studio set up in her driveway before going to a "real studio," she was hooked by the first line. "I was really nervous, but after I heard the first line, I was like, ‘Wow, I sound like an angel," she said.
On the charts front: Fourth Strike launched with a solid streaming debut - 600K+ Spotify streams on day one were reported, and searches for “Kylie Jenner” on Spotify spiked globally (up ~2,730 %) just on the song’s release.
AS for whether we will get new music in the future, she explained, "That was so much fun. I don’t want it to end. And I think, why not? I think we should try. Let’s like, make an album."
