Jennifer Garner is taking a hilarious and heartfelt look back at her past Halloween costumes, and she’s not holding back on how she really feels.
In honor of Halloween, the 13 Going on 30 star, 53, shared a video on Instagram Thursday, Oct. 30, where she revisited and rated some of her most memorable costumes over the years.
"I'm going to rate my Halloween looks," Garner announces at the start of the clip.
The first look she pulls up is a childhood throwback — a young Garner dressed as a clown, complete with an orange-and-black outfit, white face paint, and a matching orange hat.
"10/10," she declares proudly. "Makeup, costume by [her mom] Pat Garner. Oh my gosh, no notes."
Next up, Garner revisits her witch costume from 2011 — a black dress paired with a purple cape and pointed hat. She was pregnant at the time and photographed trick-or-treating in Los Angeles.
"She was bumping! I think that was my third kid, which means I was probably three months pregnant," she says, referencing her son Samuel, whom she shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck. "Just for trying your best and being out there, I'm going to give you like an 8.5/10," she decides.
Her third flashback is from 2019, when she hilariously dressed up as a U.S. Postal Service mailbox. The creative costume featured the USPS logo, a blue mail carrier cap, red-and-white checkered socks, and a pumpkin-shaped handbag.
"Oh girl, you need some pants!" she jokes, laughing at the quirky outfit. "Susie DeSanto is my favorite costume designer... like wardrobe for movies. She and I have done 12 projects together. Only Susie can turn me into a mailbox."
Despite the missing pants, Garner gives the costume an enthusiastic "11/10. No notes."
Garner then reflects on one of her most iconic characters — Jenna Rink from 13 Going on 30. She admits she recreated the look recently, though not with the original dress.
"Every year when people tell me they dressed as Jenna Rink or they send me their Jenna Rink or when I see Jenna Rink [costumes] on the street, it makes me so happy," she says. "But I don't have the original dress, so don't come for me." Since the 2024 version was an “imposter dress,” she gave it a modest "6/10."
Her fifth costume — the Wicked Witch of the West from 2018 — earned rave reviews from the actress herself. Covered head-to-toe in green paint and topped with a long black wig, Garner fully embodied the classic character.
"Oh my gosh, this is so fun," she says, cracking up at an old video of herself in costume. "I'm excited for Halloween now!" she exclaims, awarding the look an "11/10."
For her final costume, Garner recalls her first Halloween collaboration with celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles, when she dressed as a mime. The look featured white face paint, a striped shirt, and a black beret.
"Fiona, you're so good! Look at her!" Garner gushes while watching the clip. She gives the creative look a perfect "10/10."
