Selena Gomez has broken her silence after Hailey Bieber’s recent comments comparing their respective beauty brands sparked fresh online chatter.
The Only Murders in the Building star appeared to respond to Bieber’s Wall Street Journal Magazine interview, in which the model briefly addressed comparisons between Gomez’s Rare Beauty and her own Rhode skincare line. In a since-deleted Instagram Story, Gomez, 33, wrote: “Just leave the girl alone,” according to E! News.
“She can say whatever she wants. Doesn’t affect (my) life whatsoever. It’s just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone,” Gomez added, per the outlet. “And hopefully we can all stop.”
In the WSJ interview published Oct. 14, Bieber was asked how she feels about constant comparisons between the two brands.
“It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that,” Bieber, 28, replied. “When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”

Although both have repeatedly denied any feud, the internet reignited rumors of a rivalry in February 2023 after what became known as the “eyebrow incident.”
That month, Gomez posted a TikTok joking that she had “accidentally laminated my brows” too much. Hours later, Kylie Jenner shared a selfie with the caption “this was an accident ?????” written over her eyebrows. Jenner then posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with Hailey Bieber that prominently featured both of their brows — prompting fans to assume they were taking a jab at Gomez.
A month later, Gomez clarified the situation and called for peace, revealing that Bieber had reached out privately amid the backlash.
