Elsa Pataky just pulled off the ultimate mother-daughter horse girl adventure. The actress and equestrian enthusiast took her 12-year-old daughter, India Rose, whom she shares with husband Chris Hemsworth, on an eight-day horse riding safari through Namibia, which is on the southwestern coast of Africa, and the photos are breathtaking.
On Wednesday, when they got back, Pataky took to her Instagram, where she shared photos and videos of their adventures. “Just returned from an 8-day horse riding safari in India, where we crossed the Namib Desert, in Namibia, the oldest desert in the world,” Pataky wrote in the caption.
She explained that the ride was guided by her friend Kate from @globetrotting.co. Co., covered an average of 24.85 miles per day, adding up to 198.84 miles total - before reaching their final destination: the Skeleton Coast.
The duo shared special moments with horses there and took in desert views, making for an unforgettable experience.
The 49-year-old also made sure to take some selfies with the stunning skies in the background. Also showing how important it is to stay safe with a helmet when you're riding a horse.
Elsa described days “filled with never-ending gallops, hikes up canyons, sleeping out under the stars, and spotting desert oryx, zebra, and chameleons.”
India is proving to be quite the equestrian. She even raced her mom on horseback. Elsa shared a video in a gallery on her grid asking followers, “Heads up: swipe to the last slide- can you guess who wins the race, India or me?”
Horses have always been more than a hobby for Pataky, and she passed it down to her daughter. “India and I share a lot in horseback riding. Both on adventure. I love it, I feel very close to her,” she once told HOLA. That bond is clear in their adventures together, from riding in Byron Bay, where the family keeps horses, to attending events like the Magic Millions at Gatcombe Park.
India has also been gearing up to become a skilled polo player one day, and she’s already getting practice in wild landscapes most adults will never experience.
For Pataky, who’s known for her athletic lifestyle and love of pushing herself, it’s even sweeter to see that the joy of riding is something she’s passing down to her daughter.
With Elsa and India away, that means Chris was on dad duty with their 11-year-old twin sons, Tristan and Sasha. They likely had their own adventure. Back in 2022, when the mother-daughter duo attended the Magic Millions of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park, he took them on an epic camping trip in Australia filled with Surfing, fishing, roasting marshmallows, and wrestling kangaroos.
