Shakira wrapped up her Mexico tour with a glittering finale at Mexico City’s GNP Stadium, and the night came with an unexpected guest, Antonio de la Rúa.

While the Colombian superstar shared the stage with pop favorite Belinda, her former longtime partner was spotted among the audience, seated close to the front rows.

The moment turned even more poignant when Shakira and Belinda performed “Día de enero,” a ballad that Shakira famously dedicated to Antonio during their decade-long relationship. Cameras quickly panned towards the Argentine businessman who was watching her, his hand partially covering his face as if to hide his reaction.

Shakira’s Ex at the Concert Sparks Reconciliation Rumors

Of course, Antonio’s presence fulled a new wave of speculation online. A fan’s video of him during Día de enero went viral, fueling chatter about whether the two might be reconnecting. This isn’t the first time the pair have been seen together recently: earlier this summer, Antonio joined Shakira for dinner in San Diego alongside her children, Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, as well as her brother Tonino.

Just days before, at her Tijuana concert on August 11, Shakira had performed Día de enero with a heartfelt introduction: “This song is for those friends who are always there.”

Many of the Colombian star's fans interpreted it as a subtle nod to her ex.

Shakira’s Sweet Gesture With Zulu, Her Ex’s Daughter

The renewed closeness seems to extend beyond Shakira and Antonio. During her stop in Argentina, the singer invited Antonio’s 12-year-old daughter, Zulu, to walk with her during her grand entrance at the concert. Antonio’s sister Agustina later shared photos and videos of the sweet backstage moment, where Zulu also posed with Shakira.

Shakira and Antonio de la Rúa’s Love Story

Shakira and Antonio de la Rúa first met in 2000 and began dating soon after. Antonio not only became her partner but also played a pivotal role as her manager, guiding key career decisions, including her crossover into the English-language market. After more than ten years together, they announced their split in 2011.

Though Antonio filed a lawsuit against her, it was ultimately dismissed in 2013. Now, more than a decade later, their paths seem to be crossing once again, and fans are watching closely to see if history repeats itself.
