Julia Roberts is still Hollywood royalty.
The Oscar-winning actress made a stunning appearance at the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 29 for the red carpet premiere of her latest film, After the Hunt, marking her debut at the prestigious Italian event. For the occasion, Roberts wore a custom Atelier Versace gown designed by the fashion house’s new Creative Director, Dario Vitale.
Crafted from navy crepe fabric, the fitted gown features a handcrafted damier motif, intricately embroidered with black silk thread, according to Versace. Roberts, 57, was joined on the carpet by director Luca Guadagnino and co-stars Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, and Chloë Sevigny.
Earlier that day, Roberts also opted for a Versace by Dario Vitale ensemble at the film's photo call. She wore a blue tailored wool jacket over striped shirting and dark denim jeans. The look was completed with a heritage gold buckle belt, woven leather Vienna 95 shoes, and a top-handle leather bag featuring the iconic Medusa twist-lock.
When Roberts arrived in Venice on Aug. 27, she did so with playful flair, donning a cheeky cardigan emblazoned with prints of director Luca Guadagnino’s face. Letting the sweater take center stage, she kept the rest of her look low-key with canvas sneakers, a black shorts outfit, the Celine Medium New Luggage Smile bag, and dark round sunglasses by LAPIMA.

After the Hunt, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, stars Roberts alongside Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield. The film is described as "a gripping psychological drama about a college professor (Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light."
During Amazon MGM Studios’ CinemaCon 2025 presentation at Caesar’s Palace in April, director Luca Guadagnino, along with Garfield and Edebiri, praised Roberts’ performance, calling it “brilliant.”
Edebiri also noted the film’s emotional depth, saying it is meant to be seen “with other people, to talk about and discuss and just feel.”
