Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement is official, and now one of Swift’s most famous exes, Taylor Lautner, has chimed in. The "Twilight" star, 33, reshared the NFL’s official Instagram post celebrating the couple’s big news, which featured a romantic shot of Swift and Kelce’s engagement photo alongside a victorious moment after the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl win.

Lautner’s repost quoted Swift’s words to Kelce after the championship game: “I cannot believe this is really happening.” Kelce, 35, had replied at the time with a simple but heartfelt, “Same.”

The couple reportedly got engaged two weeks ago in a secret proposal, later confirming their news with a rose garden photoshoot that has already gone viral. Swift, 34, and Kelce have been together for two years, with their relationship blossoming publicly during the Chiefs’ march to Super Bowl glory.

Swift and Lautner’s Whirlwind Romance

Of course, Lautner and Swift’s history goes back to 2009, when they met on the set of "Valentine’s Day." Their on-screen kiss quickly turned into an off-screen romance, one Swift once described as “life-changing.” Lautner openly admitted at the time that she was “his type,” and fans couldn’t get enough of the young Hollywood couple.

But their relationship was short-lived. Just two months later, it ended, reportedly because Lautner was more invested than Swift. “He liked her more than she liked him,” a source told Us Weekly back then. “They decided they were better as friends.”

Years later, in 2023, Lautner reflected candidly on the breakup during an interview on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. He admitted Swift was the one who ended things, but insisted there were no hard feelings. “When you respect somebody for who they are, like in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive, and continue that love in a different way,” he said.

Lautner, Swift, and the Fans Who Won’t Let Go

Even though both stars have moved on, Lautner married nurse Taylor Dome in 2022, and fans have never stopped connecting the two. Swift’s emotional ballad "Back to December" is widely believed to be about their brief romance, fueling years of speculation.

Whenever Lautner mentions Swift, the internet takes notice. Not always positively. Some fans have urged him to “move on." Still, the actor has always been vocal in his support of Swift. In 2023, he even appeared in her "I Can See You" music video and joined her on stage during her "Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)" tour stop in Kansas City. That night, Swift praised him as a “positive force” in her life and celebrated the close friendship he and his wife now share with her.

Where Things Stand Now

Despite the breakup history and playful fan teasing, Lautner has made it clear he’s rooting for Swift’s happiness. Last November, he told Extra, “I’m excited for her. They seem like they’re incredibly happy. As long as she’s happy, I’m happy. She’s crushing it in every aspect of her life right now.”

Now, with Swift stepping into a new chapter with Kelce, Lautner’s repost shows he’s still keeping tabs on her journey, this time as a supportive friend rather than a former flame.
