Ben Shelton is showing his love for Trinity Rodman. The American tennis player is ready to make a splash at the US Open, where he's already scored his first win. Shortly after winning the game, Shelton addressed the crowd and answered some questions, sending a sweet shoutout to Rodman, thanking her for her support.
When asked about his plans for the week, Shelton shared that he had two days off and planned to use that as his free time. "My girlfriend took the red eye from California last night to be here," he said, prompting cheers from the audience and the camera to cut to Rodman, who was looking at him and smiling. She wore a white cropped shirt and some pants that showed her allegiance to Shelton, with his last name and his picture stamped across the legs.
"We're here for the long haul and I'm just looking forward to it," he said.
Shelton took on the Peruvian player Ignacio Buse on August 24th, defeating him in straight sets. His next match is tomorrow, August 27, against the Spanish player Pablo Carreño.
Rodman is taking the title for most supportive girlfriend
Over the past months, Rodman has been recovering from an injury that has kept her off the field. While she's embraced her recovery head on, Rodman has shared that her summer didn't pan out as she expected it, involding more physical therapy, workouts and relaxation that she thought she'd have.
In mid July, Rodman shared a post on her Instagram, sharing a highlight of her summer thus far. The photos showed her and Shelton enjoying some time on the beach, looking happy and in love, while also featuring plenty of workout videos from Rodman and some of the soccer drills she was running in Mexico, where she wore a black shirt with Shelton's photos printed on it.
"Not the summer that I had in mind but still loved every moment," she captioned the post. "Can’t wait to be back on the field."
A few weeks later, Rodman made her comeback with the Washington Spirits, addressing her injury with the press and sharing how happy she was to be back on the field. “I’m just happy to be back and actually in team trainings and not coming back on the side from step one,” she said.
She said that she was still planning on being herself and playing in her style after returning from her injury, just with a few modifications. “I’m still gonna be Trin, but I think the way that I would throw my body around, maybe not," she said. "Maybe just being smarter about certain tackles, certain runs, certain 50-50s."
