Lauren Sanchez Bezos has been one of the biggest sources of support for her husband, Jeff Bezos. Last week, Jacklyn Gise Bezos, known as Jackie, died in her home in Miami at the age of 78. In 2020, she was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, a neurological disorder that progressively worsened.

Last week, Bezos organized a funeral in West Miami, honoring his mother. He was accompanied by Sanchez Bezos, who held on to his hand throughout.

The pair were photographed leaving a black SUV together and entering the private service, with both of them wearing black. Sanchez Bezos wore a blazer paired with a long skirt and some heels, with her hair held up at the top of her head in an updo. Bezos wore a black suit and matching shoes.

They both wore sunglasses and looked pained by the proceedings, mourning Jacklyn.

Jacklyn's enduring legacy

Bezos shared a moving tribute on his Instagram, praising his mother and her life, including the fact that she gave birth to him when she was only 17 years old. "That couldn’t have been easy, but she made it all work," he wrote.

"She pounced on the job of loving me with ferocity, brought my amazing dad onto the team a few years later, and then added my sister and brother to her list of people to love, guard, and nourish."

"After a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia, she passed away today, surrounded by so many of us who loved her — her kids, grandkids, and my dad. I know she felt our love in those final moments. We were all so lucky to be in her life. I hold her safe in my heart forever," he concluded.

The post featured a photo of Jacklyn and a meaningful eulogy, sharing details of her childhood in Washington, D.C., and later in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The eulogy relayed that despite becoming a young single mom, Jackie worked by day and took night school. She acquired a degree in Psychology in 1991, when she was 45, showing that education was one of her lifelong pursuits.

The Bezos family invited everyone to support a nonprofit organization or to perform "a simple act of kindness in her memory."

Sanchez Bezos showed her support for her husband and his words, writing, "We will miss her SO much. Love you."
