In a rare personal interview, Spanish superstar Rosalía opened up about her views on sexuality and public scrutiny, mentioning her former relationship with actress Hunter Schafer.
Speaking with Elle, the 32-year-old made it clear that she refuses to be boxed in. "No, I do not pressure myself," Rosalía said when asked if she feels compelled to publicly define her sexuality. "I think of freedom. That’s what guides me."
Rosalia now prepares for her television debut on the upcoming third season of Euphoria, where she’ll star alongside Schafer, her ex.

Rosalía and Schafer, 26, were romantically involved for five months in 2019. Despite parting ways, the two have stayed close, and their friendship has evolved into a professional collaboration. They recently reunited on set for Euphoria’s much-anticipated final season, scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Reflecting on their past, Schafer told GQ in 2024: "She’s family no matter what." She also shared that Rosalía gave her blessing to speak publicly about their former relationship after years of speculation. "Part of us just wants to get it over with, and then another part is like, ‘It’s none of anybody’s f-ing business!’ … It’s something I’m happy to share. And I think she feels that way too."

Since her time with Schafer, Rosalía has had other high-profile relationships. She was engaged to Latin music star Rauw Alejandro, but they ended things in July 2023 after more than three years together. The split was difficult for her, she later confessed on Instagram that it wasn’t "an easy moment," following an emotional on-stage appearance at Lollapalooza Paris.
More recently, the singer has been linked to 'The Bear' actor and now-boyfriend Emilio Sakraya. As for Schafer, she’s also moved on. She dated singer-actor Dominic Fike, her 'Euphoria' co-star, in 2022. Their relationship, according to Schafer, left a lasting impression.

"He saw me exactly for who I was," she said. "This is a straight guy who is in the music scene, too… he’s only dated cis women before."
