Did Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco secretly get married in Los Angeles?

Selena Gomez's recent social media activity had fans and friends doing a double-take, and SZA was one of them. Over the weekend, the 'Only Murders in the Building' star attended rapper Lil Dicky's wedding alongside her fiancé, Benny Blanco. But her photo caption made her followers confused for a moment, as they have been open about their upcoming wedding.

“About last night’s wedding," she wrote on social media. But it wasn't just fans of the couple who were left wondering, as their friend and fellow artist SZA was momentarily convinced that Selena and Benny had tied the knot themselves.

“This caption…I panicked so crazy,” SZA commented, quickly adding, “Yay Dave!!!” Rachael Ray chimed in too, writing, “girl you and me both!”

The confusion made sense as Selena and Benny, who announced their engagement late last year, looked happy together in a new photo, after recent revelations about their wedding planning.

But the bride and groom were actually Lil Dicky, real name Dave Burd, and his longtime girlfriend Kristin Batalucco. Benny, who is a close friend of Burd and even appeared as himself on the FX series 'Dave,' attended the wedding alongside Selena in support. The couple shared sweet photos from the event, fueling the mix-up even further.

Despite their deep bond, they are in no rush to set a wedding date. “There’s so much happening at the moment with [Benny] working on some projects that he has to wrap up and we just have things we want to finish and our own personal endeavors before we get into all the nitty-gritty,” she shared during a recent appearance on the Therapuss podcast.

Benny agreed in a Rolling Stone interview, joking, “I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head,” before adding, “We’re very much 'take it one day at a time'-type of people. We’re still not over this moment.”

Despite appearances, the couple haven’t walked down the aisle just yet, but the moment is definitely on the horizon. Fans got a detailed look at Benny’s proposal from Selena herself during a March appearance on 'Jay Shetty’s On Purpose' podcast. She recalled how she believed she was heading to a shoot that day.

“I thought we had a shoot that day,” Selena said. “I had hair and makeup, and I was doing my regular day. I get in the car and I’m thinking to myself, 'Where are we going?' Because at this point, I feel like I know a lot of the studios that I go to. I just started getting a little frustrated because I was like, 'This seems far right?'"

“I think you envision all the things that you would do and say when someone asks you, but it is actually the craziest feeling,” she explained. “It was really special. He said the sweetest things, but I also was so shocked that it just felt unreal for a long time. I don’t know. I always dreamt of that moment, and he couldn’t have made it more perfect. It was one of the best days of my life for sure.”
