Alexander Skarsgård is addressing some fan rumors. In a podcast appearance, Skarsgård addressed the rumor that one of Taylor Swift's most famous songs was written about him.
Skarsgård and Swift worked briefly together on the movie "The Giver," with some believing that the two were engaged in a brief romance. Since, a group of fans believes that the song "Wildest Dreams" was written about him.
In the podcast "Armchair Expert," host Dax Shepherd shared that he'd been trying to convince his daughters, who are huge Taylor Swift fans, that he's the inspiration for the song for the past years. He even told them his theory when he took them to see Swift perform live in Lisbon.
"And then in my f---ing research today, I read that the song is about you," said Shephard.
The comment made Skarsgård laugh. "Wait, she saw you in the audience, and she's like, 'I'm gonna sing this song' — maybe it is about you," he said. "I wasn't in the crowd in Lisbon, so it was clearly about you."
Skarsgård didn't confirm or deny the rumors, simply agreeing that saying anything in relation to Swift publicly was intimidating due to her large and often protective fan base. Then he said, "I'm going to be honest. I wrote the lyrics of that song myself and sent it to Taylor. 'Taylor, here's what you should say.'"
Who is 'Wildest Dreams' about?
Neither Swift nor Skarsgård have addressed their connection on previous occasions, but the rumor began because the song was released shortly after Swift worked on "The Giver." Fans also noticed that the music video depicted a short-lived romance between two actors, which could serve as a parallel to their real-life stories. That's pretty much it.
In short, the rumor started because they worked together, and Skarsgård is tall and handsome, two features that represent a very important part of the song.
