Finding a job can be hard, even if you're related to Nicole Kidman. The Academy Award winner has a younger sister named Antonia, who is a journalist, lawyer, podcast host, and mother of 6. She had a successful career as a TV presenter in Australia, and her daughter Lucia Hawley was following in her footsteps as a host for 7Bravo since 2022. The 27-year-old was covering Live From E! red carpets, but decided to move to London in June, where she is now unemployed.
Taking to Substack, Lucia revealed it's been a little over a month since she moved to London, and is doing a long-distance relationship with her boyfriend Henry for a couple of months before he moves there in August.
She went on to open up about her decision to move there without a solid plan. "Another, perhaps glaringly obvious drawback, is that I do not have a job," she wrote. Quoting her boyfriend Henry, she explained, "'I am ‘risk-averse,’ which means that my body quite literally rejects the idea of both moving overseas and being unemployed."
As for why she made the move, it sounds like she left her job with 7Bravo before 2025 and tried to find something better, but was unsuccessful. "Truthfully, the first six months of the year were difficult for me career-wise. I lacked direction and faced numerous rejections in the pursuit of something better," she wrote. "This period was pretty taxing on my confidence," Lucia added, explaining she felt like there was nothing left for her in Sydney.
While name-dropping famous celebrities as your family can get you far in life, Lucia didn't mention her famous family at all throughout the post. She seems ready to tackle the job hunt in her new country, and isn't afraid to ask for help. "I have moved to a new country and am staring down the barrel of what could be another very gruelling job hunt—ultimately, facing even more uncertainty than I was before," she wrote. "On paper, this is a totally stupid decision, and honestly, frightens me (someone hire me pls)."
Lucia's post has been described as her "begging" for a job, but she just sounds like a girl in her late 20s taking a risk, that is, in her words, "exciting and freeing and kind of what life is all about." We will have to wait and see what opportunity Lucia finds in London. When she cried to her 12-year-old brother about the move, she said he suggested she be a model.
