Madonna turned heads at JFK International Airport on July 13 as she sported a $1,050 Britney Spears t-shirt from the pop star’s new fashion capsule. The 66-year-old music icon wore the standout piece from Spears’ collaboration with Demna, creative director of Gucci, featured in Balenciaga’s ready-to-wear Spring 2026 line titled “Exactitudes.”
The black tee features a vintage image of the “Gimme More” singer from her early career days. In the throwback shot, Britney wears a red top, a leather jacket, fishnet gloves, jeans, and a black belt. Her name appears in bold blue letters above the photo.
To complement the striking top, Madonna paired it with an oversized denim jacket and matching ripped jeans with a hole beneath her left knee. She completed the look with a wide-brimmed Gucci navy monogram hat, oversized black sunglasses, silver hoop earrings, and white sneakers. She also carried a black handbag.
Madonna and Spears famously collaborated in 2003 on the track “Me Against the Music.” That same year, the two performed “Like a Virgin” at the MTV Video Music Awards alongside Christina Aguilera, in a tribute to Madonna’s 1984 VMA performance.
The moment became iconic when Madonna kissed both Spears and Aguilera on stage, with Spears’ then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake watching from the audience.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of that headline-making kiss, Madonna reportedly hoped Spears would join her on stage during her Celebration Tour.
Although the tour faced delays due to Madonna’s hospitalization for a serious bacterial infection in June 2023, which required her to stay at an ICU, the singer still extended an invitation for Spears to perform at her March 2024 show at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
However, Spears, who has not performed live since 2018, ultimately did not appear. A source told the New York Post’s Page Six column: “Madonna originally wanted Britney to join her on tour this year. Everything was pushed back because of her illness, but she still wants Britney to join her at the Kia Forum.”
Madonna has Always Loved Britney
Madonna’s admiration for Britney Spears has spanned decades. Beyond their unforgettable on-stage collaborations and headline-making kiss at the 2003 MTV VMAs, the Queen of Pop has consistently shown public support for the younger star.
The iconic star has previously been spotted wearing Britney-themed tees as subtle nods of solidarity. In addition, the 'Vogue' singer was one of the guests at Britney’s 2022 intimate wedding to her then-husband, Sam Asghari.
