Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour has been full of unforgettable moments, but last night's show near Boston came with a full-blown scandal. And Chris Martin handled it in the most Chris Martin way possible.
During a stop at Gillette Stadium, the band’s kiss cam landed on a couple in the crowd. At first, it seemed like a sweet moment with the man's arms around the woman’s chest, and her's on his. But when they realized they were on the big screen, her reaction was instant. Mortified, she quickly pulled away, covering her face with her hands, and walking away. He vanished right after.
From the stage, Martin saw it all. “Wow, look at these two!” he said. When he noticed their horrified faces, he quipped, “Either they're having an affair or they're just really shy.” The audience then erupted.
Shortly after, in a video captured from another angle, Martin was also heard saying, “I'm not quite sure what to do." Almost as if he knew this was going to be this week's most viral moment, he said, "Oh, sh*t, I hope we didn't do anything wrong."
Turns out, that wasn’t just an awkward moment; it seems like it's a full-blown affair. Social media sleuths quickly ID’d the duo as Andy Byron, CEO of tech company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer, and, according to internet detectives, both are married to other people. He took over the role as CEO in July 2023, and Page Six reports that Cabot was hired in November 2024. Byron praised her "exceptional leadership" in a since-deleted LinkedIn post.
Cancel culture affects regular people, too, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him step down from the role as a result of the scandal. There's even a bet going on Kalshi asking, "Will the CEO of Astronomer leave in July?" The data-based company is valued at 1.2B according to The Post.
Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, has since deleted her Facebook account and removed her last name before deactivating. Meanwhile, Coldplay’s tour rolls on, leaving all couples having an affair thinking twice about going to their concert.
While it's a really sad situation for their partners, especially if there are kids involved, the internet has taken it over with open arms and memes. Check out some of the best reactions to what could be this summer's biggest scandal.
