2025 is continuing to prove that it is the year of celebrity breakups. News broke on July 7 that Denise Richards' husband, Aaron Phyphers, filed for divorce after six years of marriage.
Fresh off the holiday weekend, Phyphers filed for divorce, citing Independence Day, July 4, as their date of separation. He listed the celebrity favorite "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, per PEOPLE.
According to the documents, he's requesting spousal support and wants to keep their assets and debts separate. Which means he's hoping to be awarded his power tools, motorcycle, and sports car. He has also requested that he and Richards divide their Smoke & Mirrors Entertainment company in half, per Us Weekly.
The former businessman told the court he “had to close down” his wellness company in 2024 and has made “no income since” and listed no property or money in the back. His wellness company is actually the reason they met. Per People, she was at the Malibu healing center for "preventative DNA repair,” and they began dating in June 2017.
He estimated that Richards makes about $250k a month on OnlyFans, brand deals, TV, and appearances.
Despite not making any income, he claims that he and Richards’ monthly expenses are $105k. He lives with Richards and her 14-year-old daughter, Eloise Joni, whom he was in the process of adopting, but it’s unclear if that was ever completed. Denise also shares Sami Sheen, 21, and Lola Sheen, 20, with her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen.
Among some of the monthly expenses he listed were $18k on rent, $20k on clothing, $15k on eating out, and $5k on laundry, per US Weekly.
The news comes after a March episode of her show Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, where they discussed a hypothetical divorce, with Richards saying, “I’m never getting divorced again. Even if we hate each other, I'm not gonna f—ing get divorced."
Phyphers explained his thinking, saying, If they did decide to separate, 'We’ll just have different homes or something. But we’re not gonna hate each other."
In the same interview, Richards acknowledged she was not an easy person to be married to, with the businessman saying, “It is not, and she said it! But this is it. I'm done."
The soon-to-be ex-married couple said “I do” in a surprise Hawaiian wedding on Sept. 8, 2018, just two days after their engagement was revealed. Richards said she planned it in 48 hours. “I didn't know the date... we were trying to figure that out. And then the 8th is a very significant number for him. He says it means infinity, so we just decided, 'You know what, we don't want to wait, and let's just do it,” she told ET in 2018.
Looks like infinity ended too soon.
