Trinity Rodman has people saying they need to find someone who looks at them the way she looks at Ben Shelton. The Olympic soccer star is one of many in London, England, watching Wimbledon, one of the most iconic tennis tournaments in the world. Taking the court on July 3 was her boyfriend, Ben Shelton, for his second-round match against Rinky Hijikata.
Trinity was in the front row player’s box seats supporting her man, and a clip of her staring at him has quickly made its way on social media. From the video, there is no denying that she is madly in love with her talented boo.
In the clip posted by ESPN, Ben is adjusting his jersey, and Trinity cannot look away, staring at him with proud passion in her eyes. The comments are hilarious, with one person writing, "She's looking at him like she's watching a TikTok edit of him."
Among the adorable comments were also some haters who pointed out that Trinity did not play with the women's national team last night, and another calling her a "WAG," which stands for wives and girlfriends of professional athletes. "Guess she's not coming back to soccer anytime soon. She's a full-time wag," the hater wrote.
However, Trinity has already addressed these kinds of comments, and has a good reason why she's out - she's injured. On April 19, the 22-year-old U.S. soccer star was sidelined indefinitely by the Washington Spirit due to an ongoing back injury.
At the end of May, she shared a video on Instagram showing her intense physical therapy and recovery work. “Yes, I’m grinding almost every day in PT to get back on the field… No, I’m not just being a WAG and vacationing :) Thank you,” she wrote.
What's going on in Wimbledon
Shelton was leading Hijikata 6–2, 7–5, 5–4 when the match was suspended due to darkness. He will have to return on Friday to finish the game.
The 22-year-old was visibly upset with reports saying both he and Hijikata had already suggested the game be suspended earlier.
All eyes are also on Carlos Alcaraz, who just won the French Open. He will be competing in the third round tomorrow against Jan-Lennard Struff.
On the women's side, fans were shocked to see Coco Gauff eliminated after winning the French Open. She was knocked out in the first round this week by unseeded Dayana Yastremska.
Naomi Osaka, meanwhile, has moved on to the third round after beating Kateřina Siniaková in the second round.
