“Sly passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three children, his closest friend, and his extended family,” said Stone's family in a statement. “While we mourn his absence, we take solace in knowing that his extraordinary musical legacy will continue to resonate and inspire for generations to come.”

The clip shows him wearing jeans and playing his guitar, showcasing his skill, playing along to one of Stone's most famous songs, “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)."

"GOOD MORNING and THANK YOU SLY," Kravitz captioned the post.

Stone rose to fame in the late '60s, making many hit songs over the years. In 2025, Questlove directed a documentary called "SLY LIVES," exploring Stone's legacy, and the rise and fallout of his band.

Music legends tribute to Stone

Before posting the video, Kravitz had shared a photo of Stone on his Instagram stories, writing, "Sly FOREVER." Many musicians followed in Kravitz's footsteps, sharing tributes of their own, including Mick Jagger, Paul Stanley from KISS, Randy Bachman, and more.

Stone left a big imprint on the world of music, fashion, and entertainment. In a 2003 interview with The New York Times, Pharrell said: “He spoke to a generation and ones that followed. He challenged people’s perception of normalcy. He wore seriously fly clothes, and to this day, I have no idea how he walked around in those platforms.”
