Fans guess the 'matriarch' who will be a guest on Meghan Markle's podcast

The Duchess of Sussex called the bonus episode "so special"

MAY 30, 2025 4:44 PM EDT

Surprise! Days after the Season 1 finale of Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan Markle revealed that a bonus episode will be dropping on June 3. Lemonada Media shared a teaser for the upcoming episode on Instagram, writing: "We had just wrapped Confessions of a Female Founder and packed up the mics—until a call came in that we couldn’t ignore. On the line was one of the most influential and inspiring matriarchs in culture today. Naturally, we hit record.  @Meghan says it best: this one is special.✨ We hope you’ll join us for a BONUS episode of Confessions of a Female Founder, coming next Tuesday. While you wait, we’d love to know––do you have any idea who our guest is?"

In the clip, the Duchess of Sussex can be heard saying, "Next week, we've got one more very special interview for you. A bonus episode. Because when a matriarch calls, and when this matriarch calls, oh, you answer."

While Meghan didn't reveal the identity of the "matriarch," Instagram users guessed Tina KnowlesBeyoncé and Solange Knowles' mother—after hearing her voice.

"That's why I fight so hard," Tina says in the promo. "I tell them every day you belong anywhere, since they were little girls, 'You belong anywhere you choose to be.'"

“Can you guess who it is? This one is so special, y’all," Meghan then says.

Referring to Tina, a mother of two, as matriarch was a nod, no doubt, to her memoir titled Matriarch, which was released last month. When Tina announced her book back in October, she wrote on Instagram, "I have always been a storyteller, and it’s something I learned from my mother. When I had a family of my own, I believed that my daughters needed to know where they came from in order to know where they were going. I’m now ready to share my story with all of you, so that we can all celebrate these themes of strength, motherhood, Black pride, and identity."

She explained at the time that she called the book Matriarch because "what inspires me is the wisdom that women pass on to each other, generation to generation—and the inner wisdom we long to uncover in ourselves," adding, "Even at 70 I am still learning valuable lessons—revelations that I wish that I would have had at 40 or even 20. I want to share this knowledge now, one to one with the reader, as we laugh and sometimes cry together through all the stages of our lives."

Meghan and Tina's paths have crossed before. In April of 2024, Tina attended an event that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted at the Kinsey Collection Exhibition at Sofi Stadium. Beyoncé's mom and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, posed together for a photo that was later shared by the Kinsey Collection on Instagram. The Duchess has also previously met Beyoncé, and attended her Renaissance World Tour in 2023, and just earlier this month, she and Prince Harry enjoyed a date night at the Grammy winner's Cowboy Carter Tour. Alongside pictures and videos from the 2025 concert, Meghan penned: "About last night…. Thank you @beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love."
