Malia Obama joins Jenna Ortega in new hair trend: Just in time for summer!

Malia Obama is making headlines once again, this time, for a major hair moment. The emerging filmmaker was spotted after a yoga class in Los Angeles, debuting a vibrant red shade of hair, just in time for summer.

The former First Daughter is joining one of the biggest trends of the season after none other than Jenna Ortega showed off her new look at the premiere of her latest movie.

Braided into a low ponytail, Malia's new look is a bright hue of red, similar to Jenna's “unicorn blood” red hair. Malia was spotted with a tangerine yoga mat, loose-fit clothing, and minimalist accessories, making her hair the center of attention.

Malia, who’s been carving out her own path in Hollywood with her directorial work, has never shied away from experimenting with beauty, experimenting with new hairstyles and looks, including her 2024 appearance at the Deauville American Film Festival, wearing Vivienne Westwood and styling her hair in braids, showcasing her signature hair color.

Jenna Ortega joined the cherry-hued wave during the press tour for 'Death of a Unicorn,' turning heads with what her stylist called “unicorn blood” red, a vampy, deep shade that adds an edge to her look.

Other stars who have tried the trendy hair color include Dua Lipa, who kicked off the “cherry cola” craze last year. While other celebs and A-list stars include Tessa Thompson, Megan Thee Stallion, and Keke Palmer.

Jenna debuted her red hair at the premiere of her film at SXSW in Austin, Texas, wearing a glen plaid suit from Oscar de la Renta‘s fall 2025 collection, and matching the hairstyle with a burgundy button-up and matching satin tie.

The actress continues to rock the red tone of red. Most recently, partying with The Weekend in NYC after the release of their movie 'Hurry Up Tomorrow.' She stepped out in a silky pink minidress paired with a gray fur coat, a glamorous makeup look, and silver strappy heels.
