Winner of Shakira's purple Lamborghini crashes with another car

Michael Mejía, the winner of the flashy purple Lamborghini Urus that Shakira once owned and used in her "Soltera" music video, was involved in a crash in Miami. In December 2024, Michael hit the jackpot by winning this luxury SUV; alongside the car, Shakira generously handed over $90,000 to cover expenses like taxes, insurance, and other initial costs. For any car enthusiast, this was the stuff of dreams.

But here's where the plot thickens. Maintaining a high-end vehicle like the Lamborghini Urus isn't exactly a walk in the park. Michael soon found himself facing some hefty bills, including insurance for over $2,000 per month, fuel every couple of days, and other costs kept piling up, quickly surpassing the initial $90,000 gift.

In an interview, Michael said, "It's quite expensive; basically, a middle-class person just won a car that only millionaires can maintain."

The Tough Decision

With expenses spiraling, Michael had to make a hard choice. He decided to sell the Lamborghini, hoping to turn this financial burden into an opportunity.

But before selling the car, he decided to keep it for six months and live the Shakira experience. Everything seemed normal until Mejía crashed into another vehicle.

The images quickly went viral. After collapsing with a gold Toyota Camry, the clips show the car with damages on the driver's side. The video also shows Mejía receiving directions from a police officer.

Fans Reaction

Shakira's fans, who have been following Mejía's journey, took to social media to share their reactions after the crash. "Let's look forward to Shakira's new single, 'I would have given you a Twingo,'" a fan joked.

"The guy should have sold that gift life gave him as soon as he received it—obviously, a millionaire's car for an average salary in the U.S. would never, ever be affordable to maintain... now he's stuck with that insurance; he SHOULD HAVE SOLD IT RIGHT AFTER WINNING IT," a second person advised.

A third chimed in, saying: "Ahaha, if he struggled with maintenance before, now it will be twice as expensive to repair it 😂"

"He was told... he was warned. But oh well... hopefully, he can fix that damage or ask @shakira to help him 🤦🏻‍♀️😊," another added.
