No spots available? This can be the scariest phrase for a woman waiting for a hair appointment. Whether you are at home or traveling, you can easily dye your hair with the Avon CHI Essentials Hair Color kit. This kit comes with a stylist support called Call a Colorist which means you can speak directly to a licensed stylist in English, Spanish or French. This kit is ammonia-free and gluten-free and features 12 different shades. CHI is the first company to create ammonia-free hair color in 1986 and now offering a complimentary call with a licensed hairstylist.

In addition, the kit provides a pre-mixed shade to avoid guesswork and safe experience. According to CHI stylist Melissa Gonzalez, “Most boxed color kits use ammonia in their color which harshly opens up the cuticle and dries out your hair. They are also inconsistent in PH so you never know what color you‘re going to end up with.” The Avon CHI Essentials offers the safest way to dye your hair without the extra hassle. Follow these tips that will give your greys extra coverage.

Prepare to mix

The Avon CHI Essentials comes with a bottle of color, developer, shampoo, serum, gloves and shower cap. The liquid-gel formula provides 100% grey coverage and is formulates with aloe, silk and olive oil. To begin, wear your gloves, remove the applicator cap from the application bottle #1 and pour entire contents of bottle #2 into the first bottle. Shake the bottle to mix the color and you are ready to apply the color.

Part hair into four sections

Whether you are dying your hair for the first time or going darker than your current color, this color mixture works best on unwashed dry hair. Part your hair into four sections and then proceed to apply the color mixture to the root area until fully saturated. Apply the leftover mixture into the sections then massage from roots to ends. Cover your hair with the cap and leave color for 30 minutes.

Only 20 minutes to touch up your roots

Follow this step if you only need to touch up your roots. Use only about 2/3 of the color mixture on the root area and apply on the root area until fully saturated. Cover your hair with the cap and leave color for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, apply leftover color to the remaining hair and work through with your fingertips.

Rinse and use the after care formula

Rinse your hair with warm water and use Avon CHI Essentials Replenishing Shampoo for color-treated hair. After, apply the pH-balanced Avon CHI Essentials Moisturizing Conditioner to replenish moisture to color-treated hair. Leave on for five minutes and then rinse. For the final step use the repairing serum and detangle with a large-tooth comb.
