Doha dressed to the nines this weekend for two standout events, where celebrities showcased their most glamorous side, channeling pure Arabian Nights elegance.
On Saturday, the Fashion Trust Arabia awards gala took place, where Georgina Rodríguez stunned in a 32-year-old Alaïa creation. Barely 24 hours later, the first edition of the Franca Fund Gala inaugurated a charitable initiative in honor of the late fashion editor.
Co-hosted by Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, driving force behind Qatar’s cultural renaissance, and Francesco Carrozzini, the event showcased fashion, philanthropy, technology, and innovation inside the spectacular Museum of Islamic Art.
Beyond the glittering gowns, the evening aimed to spotlight the growing role of preventive genomics in the future of medicine, supporting projects developed at leading institutions such as Harvard.
Among the guests were sisters Amelia and Eliza Spencer, who attended both events, model Shanina Shaik, and Anna Wintour, the former boss of the evening’s honoree. Also in attendance were the Qatari sheikha and Queen Rania of Jordan, both of whom left us utterly speechless with their looks.
The Jordanian queen, glamorous as ever, proved once again why she is considered one of the world’s most elegant royals. She masterfully fused tradition, elegance, and modernity into one ensemble, staying true to her signature style while perfectly suiting the occasion.
Rania is known for choosing special textiles for her most important engagements, and this time she stepped out in a stunning satin two-piece that added an extra dose of sophistication.
She wore a copper-toned top with an asymmetric camisole neckline, puffed sleeves with slit details and fitted cuffs, paired with a spectacular floor-length skirt in aquamarine. The flattering design featured a faux sash made of embroidered geometric bands embellished with crystals and shimmering beads.
She completed her look with sharp-toed gold pumps, a matching clutch, and oversized earrings. Meanwhile, her hair fell loose, styled with a centre part and glamorous waves.
Another head-turning look of the night came courtesy of Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, wife of the former emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. One of the region’s most influential figures, champion of global education, driving force behind the Qatar Foundation, and a regular on lists of the world’s most powerful women, she is known not only for her philanthropic work but also for her spectacular wardrobe, which has cemented her status as a true style icon far beyond her country’s borders.
