Prince Johannes Oettingen-Wallerstein got engaged to Luisa Textor on a family trip to Japan.

“And suddenly she says yes!” reads the message. The engagement took place in Tokyo, with Prince Carl-Eugen sharing a photo of the special moment, showing the happy couple showing off Textor's ring, which showcases three sapphires.

"Our son @johannesow and @luisatxt got engaged in Kyoto. We are so incredibly happy for them both – for their courage, their shared "yes," and for everything that lies ahead. All the very best to you both. May life fulfil your promises – and perhaps even a little more. Hugs!" he concluded.

The Oettingen-Wallerstein family is one of the oldest royal families, having a lineage that dates back 900 years. The House of Oettingen was a high-ranking noble family that ruled various estates and plots of land for years, between the 12th century and the beginning of the 19th century. They lost some of their political power after their country abolished the monarchy, but still maintain social and cultural prestige.

The family has long been connected to the regional economy, managing land, forests, and more in the regions of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Their members maintain ties with other European royal houses and often attend major cultural events.

According to HELLO!, Johannes, 27, and his fiancée, 25, were in Japan for the wedding of the prince’s maternal uncle, Prince Peter of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, who married Yurina Hattori-Roche. Although it’s not known how the couple met, they likely crossed paths in college. Johannes has a master's degree in economics and international politics from Bocconi University. He works at a venture capital firm in Munich, with Luisa working in the same field and state.

No more details are known about the couple and their wedding. Some sources speculate that the pair could get married in one of the family's properties, which include the Wallerstein Castle.

Prince Johannes is the grandson of Prince Moritz of Oettingen-Wallerstein. He's the son of Prince Carl-Eugen Oettingen-Wallerstein and his first wife, Alexandra zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. His parents married in 1994, in a ceremony attended by different royals, including those from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. He has a sister, Princess Helena, and three half-siblings, Prince Eugen, Countess Elisabetta, and Count Lászlo.
