Máxima of the Netherlands continues to pleasantly surprise us in the closing months of 2025. With just over a month before winter officially begins, the Queen is enjoying a stylish autumn, showing her preference and confidence in Spanish design.
She continues to demonstrate her bold stylistic choices through accessories, particularly her ever-growing collection of brooches, and clever styling tricks that transition her looks from classic to avant-garde. A perfect example was her latest ensemble in Rotterdam.
The Queen of the Netherlands visited Rotterdam for the inauguration of SAWA, a sustainable apartment building designed with circular wooden construction, biodiversity, and healthy finishes featuring plants, contributing to environmental well-being.
For this important outing, preceding her attendance at the presentation of the 2025 Annual SME Report at the former Valkenburg Naval Air Base, Máxima chose a daring color combination that might seem unlikely, yet has historically been embraced with flair by audacious royals.
The wife of King Willem-Alexander opted for a rich red paired with a striking purple, echoing the “forbidden” combination famously worn by Princess Diana during her 1989 Hong Kong tour.
Her outfit, centered around a robe-style coat, also features a long-sleeved Natan Couture dress with a boxy neckline, draped crossover detail at the bust, and a midi-length hem. This was a piece she first wore on January 25, 2022. The look is elevated with a wide belt that perfectly defines her silhouette.
For accessories, the Queen chose comfortable, wide-heeled boots and carried her 2020 Wandler Georgia leather bag with a gold clasp. On her chest, she wore a brooch adorned with a tulip, the national flower of the Netherlands, and an olive branch, symbolizing peace.
This piece first appeared during her State Visit to Greece on November 2, 2022, and was most recently seen a year ago at the Central Museum in Utrecht.
Her striking gold hoop earrings and burgundy-to-purple Maison Michel Henrietta hat completed the ensemble, an accessory she last wore on April 12, 2022.
Queen Máxima's latest formal ensemble:
Earlier this month, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands demonstrated her commitment to social causes while showcasing impeccable style during a visit to the Enik Recovery College in Utrecht, a center supporting people dealing with addiction and mental health challenges.
For the occasion, the Queen opted for a chic grey suit paired with a soft blue blouse, grey heels, and a matching purse. She showcased an ensemble that was both elegant and professional.
She accessorized with delicate dangling earrings and her iconic engagement ring, maintaining her signature balance of sophistication and approachability. During her visit, Máxima engaged with staff and collaborators, discussing ways to empower patients throughout their recovery journeys, proving once again that her style is matched by substance.
