First Lady Melania Trump had Queen Rania of Jordan's support as she launched a new global coalition for children. Her Majesty was among the guests at the reception for Fostering the Future Together: A Global Coalition held on Tuesday at the Lotte New York Palace in New York City. The day after the event, the Queen posted a photo of herself and the First Lady of the United States posing side by side.
"At a reception hosted by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in New York on the occasion of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly," Rania captioned the post.
The First Lady looked business chic for the launch event wearing a white Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit teamed with a caramel-colored blouse, while the Jordanian Queen wore a sophisticated bow-detail midi dress, said to be from Balenciaga.
The mission of Melania's new initiative is “to ensure that every child can flourish in the digital era.” According to the Office of the First Lady, Fostering the Future Together members will include the spouses or equivalent representatives of heads of government.
The First Lady and Queen of Jordan reconnected in Florida earlier this year. Days before President Donald Trump's second inauguration, Rania and Melania had a meeting in Palm Beach. At the time, the Queen's office shared that the two of them "discussed various issues of mutual interest, including children’s welfare, as well as improving their education." The meeting was then followed by a lunch.
Rania later shared a picture of herself and Melania in conversation. Alongside the photo, the Queen wrote: "It was a pleasure reconnecting with incoming U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in Florida yesterday #Jordan #USA #Florida."
During President Trump's first term, Queen Rania visited the White House with her husband King Abdullah II in April 2017 and in June 2018. After their visit in 2018, the first lady wrote on Instagram, "A great visit with the King & Queen of Jordan. @POTUS & I were glad to welcome them back to the @Whitehouse. @QueenRania & I shared an open & productive discussion about the many issues our countries are challenged with today."
