Princess Sofia of Sweden shined bright on a special day for her family. The mom of four looked like a ray of sunshines dressed in yellow for her daughter Princess Ines' christening. The 40-year-old stepped out for the service at Drottningholm Palace Chapel wearing a vibrant design by Lars Wallin, which she paired with a matching headband.
Sofia proudly held her baby girl at the christening on Friday, June 13, which also happened to be her and Prince Carl Philip's tenth wedding anniversary. The christening was a royal family affair. Ines' big brothers Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian were all in attendance and poured the baptismal water during the service. Other family members at the christening included King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Princess Madeleine, Christopher O'Neill, Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne.
Sofia and Carl Philip picked their 13-year-old niece Princess Estelle, who is second in line to the Swedish throne, to be one of their daughter's godparents. On the eve of their baby girl's christening, the Prince Couple shared a video montage to commemorate their upcoming wedding anniversary.
"Tomorrow we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. On June 13, 2015 we got married❤️," the post was captioned (translated to English). "We are so grateful for the joy and warmth that met us that day and has continued throughout these ten years. Now we have four wonderful children and tomorrow we are christening our little Ines🌸."
Sofia married King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's son on June 13, 2015 at the Royal Chapel. Over the last 10 years, the Prince and Princess have become parents of four. The pair welcomed their first child, Prince Alexander, in 2016, followed by their second, Prince Gabriel, in 2017, their third, Prince Julian, in 2021 and their fourth, Princess Ines, this past February.
In an interview with Vogue Scandinavia last year, Sofia admitted that she "always, always, always dreamt of a family." The Princess shared, "It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that."
“Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that," Sofia added. "But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”
